Parent Involvement
As a part of a parent cooperative, Morningside parents share their talents, skills and enthusiasm in everything from enriching the curriculum and maintaining the facilities to scholarship fundraising. Parents come to the school to read stories, teach music and cooking, participate in art projects and to share their hobbies. They have even invited classes to visit them at their offices, shops and studios, providing opportunities for our students to understand the daily world of their parents.
Morningside depends on its parents and welcomes their ideas, insights, caring and enthusiasm.
As a parent cooperative, families are required to donate 18 hours of work to the school each year. By and large, these hours do not take place in the classroom and most work hours are needed for our scholarship fundraising events (our October street fair and Spring Auction.)
Parents are sent a Work Agreement form as an extension to their contract.
