Each year, our Summer of Science Program takes on a specific science theme. This summer, we are excited to explore our living environment! Supervised by our warm, seasoned staff of teachers and counselors, children ages 3.0 - 5.5 enjoy play with peers of the same age group while learning about the world around them. (Children must be fully toilet trained to be eligible for this program option.)
They will explore plants, animals and habitats in unique and fun ways, as science exploration encourages hands-on learning and discovery. Exciting outdoor and in-house trips bring the fascinating world to their fingertips! We offer two indoor and two outdoor trips per session. In the past, The Nature Company, Science Storytellers, and The Reptile Lady have visited to share real-life animals that children have the opportunity to see and touch. Past outdoor trips have included visits to the Harlem Museum, Museum of Natural History, Children's Museum of Manhattan, and the Central Park Zoo. (An additional $80 trip fee is applied to per session).
Our vast 2,000 square ft. terrace playground includes playscape, tricycles and large building blocks. It also includes sprinklers, so children not enrolled in the optional "Learn to Swim" program will still be able to cool off their busy bodies everyday.
Music! Our very own Morningside alum and professional musician, Mr. Tim, is a lively, guitar-playing, children's-song-singing expert! He has an extensive background in music, with knowledge of instruments from around the globe. Mr. Tim has been working with preschool children for over a decade.
Arts & Crafts! Toddlers explore materials that involve patterns, symmetry, collages, texture-rubbing, color-mixing and more. These hands-on activities are grounded in our summer of science curriculum, so the love of learning never ends.
Yoga for Kids! Fun yoga postures and stretching, this is a regular part of the summer program experience for toddlers and teachers alike!
