Schedule: Toddler Program

If we compare our ability as adults to that of the child, it would require us 60 years of hard work to achieve what a child has achieved in these first three years of life.

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Arrival

Children arrive at school and are greeted by their teachers and classmates. They begin the day practicing foundational care-of-self activities, such as stowing their items in their cubbies, changing their shoes, and washing their hands.

9:30 AM - 10:15 AM: Outdoor Play

The children visit our roof terrace for gross motor activities, and later in the school year, may go on walks to the park or other sites in our community.

10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Morning Work Cycle

The work cycle is a foundational part of a Montessori classroom, and serves as a protected time dedicated to children’s concentration and independence. Children are able choose work from the shelves that appeals to them. Teachers support children by giving lessons on new materials and leading small-group explorations.

During this time, our music teacher will visit the class, along with any guests. The children will also have snack.

12:15 PM - 1:15 PM: Lunch

Children tidy up, wash hands, and eat lunch at tables together with their classmates. We believe that the experience of sitting together for meals builds a sense of community in our classrooms. After the meal, teachers may sing songs or read stories while the children prepare for the nap period.

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Nap Period

3:00 PM - 4:30 PM: Afternoon Work Cycle

*Dismissal times are 12:00 PM (before lunch), 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM & 4:30 PM
