We are pleased that our Junior Counselor program will return this summer! Students aged 16-18 years old are invited to apply to work alongside our experienced Early Childhood and Toddler Program staff to create a fun, enriching summer program for children aged 2-6.

Junior Counselors must be 16 years of age before their first day at Morningside and have availability to work 8:30 - 3:30 on weekdays between June 17 and July 26. We are closed Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth and Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day.

The following must be on-file at Morningside for all Junior Counselors by June 14, 2024:

  • Working papers provided by your high school

  • Two letters of reference from teachers or supervisors

  • An up-to-date NYS medical form

  • Proof of full COVID vaccination

Junior Counselors will be paid $16/hr, NYC’s minimum wage. Paychecks are received bi-weekly, and counselors will be issued a W-2 for tax purposes at the end of the year.  

Alternatively, Junior Counselors can volunteer to meet a school community service requirement. Each volunteer will be provided weekly unlimited MetroCards for transit and a letter of reference documenting community service hours worked.  [This is also an option for those who are 13-15 years old.]
